Sauna FAQs
We spend 15 minutes or so in the sauna. Then spend some time out of the sauna; you can dip in cold water if you wish. Then we are back in the sauna. Repeat. We go with the mood of the group; sometimes we chat, sometimes more peaceful.
Swimming costume – shorts – vest – whatever you feel comfortable wearing

I know how that feels! You are welcome and accepted just as you are. We can assure you that you’ll soon feel at ease – no one cares about how anyone looks, we come in all shapes, colours and sizes. Please come and join us and you’ll see that you will be welcomed and supported.
To join us in the sauna you need to be aged 14 or over. Little bodies over heat more easily and the sauna is not suitable for small juniors.
Avoid the sauna if you are feeling sick or unwell. We recommend you are not under the influence of any drugs, alcohol, medication, or other substance affecting your mental or physical state.
You should be physically healthy and mentally fit to participate in the sauna. If you have any concerns about your health it is recommended you obtain permission from your GP, before using the sauna.
If you have recently had an operation, heart attack or have unstable angina, you should not use the sauna. If you have any medical condition, such as anhidrosis, that interferes with your ability to sweat you should not use the sauna.
It is not suitable to use the sauna during pregnancy.
There are mixed messages about this and little scientific research and evidence. Go with what feels right for you, listen to your body. You may appreciate the warmth and relaxation during this time.
Yes! Our sessions are mixed. If a mixed session is stopping you from participating, then please let us know, single sex sessions can be arranged.
For one session lasting 45 minutes it’s £9. There are options to buy a course at a reduced rate. If cost is stopping you from participating, please contact us we can sort something out, privately and confidentially.

No. We recommend that you dip; go into the water to about thigh deep and then duck your shoulders down under the water.
You can sit further away from the log burner. You can enter and leave the sauna as many times as you like to cool down. As you use the sauna more regularly you will build up tolerance to the heat.
Drink lots of water. Avoid alcohol. Avoid social media, the news and any other negative influence on your mood for as long as possible, to maintain the natural high that you will experience participating in a sauna session.

We are looking for some inland, fresh water spots. Get in touch if you know of one!
If there are high winds, we will need to postpone the session for safety reasons. If this happens we will give you as much notice as possible via SMS & email. Your booking will be rearranged to a future date.
If you need to reschedule please do so within 24 hours of the session and we’ll credit another session.
